A winning lottery ticket ... for $500!!
Yep, we thought it was a winning ticket too ... for about 3 blissful hours. And then we were brought back down to reality ... let me explain:
After returning from Lowe's and the grocery store, Matt is telling me how he got a special print out at Lowe's with his receipt that guaranteed him a winner of at least $10 to Lowe's but a chance at up to $100 ... so as he heads to the grocery store he's feeling lucky and gets a lottery ticket (the scratch kind).
He comes home and is telling me all of this as he scratching away. He then tells me we just won five hundred dollars! I say, no we didn't, stop teasing ... he says, no, Andrea, we really did. I look and sure enough it looks as though we did ... we start laughing like silly school kids and then let it sink in and of course quickly plan how we will spend it ... LOL. Thankfully we only told less than a handful of people, because on our way to celebrate with ice cream, we stop to cash it. Matt sends me in, thinking I'll really get a kick out of showing the cashier (thanks A LOT). I'm of course giddy and tell the cashier I'm not sure if she'll have enough to cash it (oh my, can I just not keep my mouth shut), she looks at it, doesn't seem to get excited, scans it at the machine and tells me it's not a winner. What?!?! I of course think she's clearly uninformed in the world of lottery tickets, I mean after all she only works at a gas station where they sell them all day long ... she can clearly see these thoughts running through my mind ... so she shows me that instead of a picture of a "check" with our two $500 amounts, we had the word, TICKET. Sadly as I "re-check" the ticket this is painfully obvious and it starts to sink in as I head back outside ... shaking my head to Matt (slightly irritated that he sent me in on HIS false alarm winning ticket). Matt of course assumes they didn't have enough money on hand to cash, but I quickly burst his bubble and then we just started laughing again.
Easy come, easy go ... LOL. Heaven help us if we really win big though ... in those three short hours we hashed out just how we were going to spend our big winnings. I'd share those now, but you never know we might just win that $500 ... and if I told you our plans it might ruing potential surprises ;).
Hope you got a laugh too ... Happy Tuesday!!

Ah, well. At least you got some celebration ice cream out of the deal! Did baby Jesus want any ice cream this time? :)
Okay I looked at the picture and said -out loud to myself - "NO WAY That's awesome!" I am sorry for you but it really was funny. Did you still get ice cream?
You know who loves those scratch tickets? Garrett. He thinks it's fun. Does it make me a bad mom that I actually buy them???
Jessie - your Jesus comment made me laugh out loud!
