I almost thought that we "missed" doing something related to Christmas today ...

We didn't get to the ornament wreath like I had hoped today.

But Matt came home a bit early and he and Ethan put up Christmas lights outside after dinner. I think that counts, right? I love thinking that in 30 years, Ethan might be putting lights up for his family remembering these moments with his dad. I can remember how meticulous my dad was (is) with our outside lights and the lights on the tree. Boy did he grumble at times putting them up, getting them 'perfect' (I have no idea where I get this from?!?!), but I know that he did it because he knew how happy it made us and that he really enjoyed looking at his handiwork too. Isn't that what Christmas lights are really about? Spreading happiness to all those that see them? I know it seems like such a simple thing, but they really do make people happy.

Matt and Ethan ran out of lights tonight, but once they get them finished, I'll take a picture to share.

Now go shine like a Christmas light and spread joy!

In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven. ~ Matthew 5:16

Ha, that is too funny I was just thinking about Dad and his lights yesterday. Our neighbors put up lights and they are pretty because well they're lights but nothing compared to Dad's. I attempted at about 9 pm last night to decorate the garland outside. Ten minutes later with frozen hands I had run out of lights and risked frostbite-hopefully they'll get finished today. Love you!

I love Christmas lights. Jason is very meticulous about his lights, the neighbors have even made comments about how perfect they look. And they do, although this year we got LED lights (a lot less $ to run) and they weren't as easy to set up perfectly. To me they still look great. He also puts a strand of light in each of the girls room too. I love walking in there rooms at night and turning them off after they've fallen asleep.
