In search of a clever title ... *edited*

... but I have none.

I'm sorry my blogging has been a bit sporadic these day. I'm pretty sure the amount of blogging I am doing is directly proportional to the amount of sewing I'm doing ... and since I'm doing A LOT of sewing, I'm not doing as much blogging :).

Last week was very busy ... from Wednesday - Monday ... I sewed a reading pillow, SIX totes and two Bitty baby sets (2 burp cloths and 1 applique onsie) ... phew, I'm taking today as a little break, but have 3 aprons to finish before Monday.

** Edited to add - The below are all custom orders, but if you see something you like, you can always send me a note through the Etsy store :). **

Sew, LOL, here's a little peak at the recent creations:

Now onto tastier topics ... like cookies ... Mmmm. I *love* cookies. I love making them, eating the dough and eating them fresh out of the oven. Here's a few things I've learned over my years of making cookies:

  • The older I get the more I like cookie dough ... weird I know ... it should be reverse, right? But as a child I never ate the dough, never.
  • I feel content if my pantry is stocked with flour, sugar and a variety of "chips" as in the baking kind. I am uneasy if there are fewer than 2 boxes of butter in the freezer.
  • Real cookies need BUTTER.
  • If you're going to make cookies weekly (as I do) buy yourself a cookie scoop, it'll be your new best friend. Me and mine go everywhere together.
  • If you make cookies weekly (again as I do) it is best to only bake about a dozen. Scoop the rest onto a cookie sheet lined with wax paper, freeze for an hour (or until you remember you stuck them in there ... often many, many, many hours later for me) and then put them in a freezer bag. Next time you crave cookies just let them thaw on the cookie sheet while you preheat the oven and waa-laaa ... fresh cookies without all the work.
  • I don't really like cookies that are more than a day old ... which is also why the above trick is a good one for me, more fresh cookies for me :).
  • You need an oven thermometer. Seriously, when your oven gives you the "ding, ding, ding"and says that it is pre-heated ... It's not. I hate to break it to you, but it's been lying to you for a long time ... get an oven thermometer so you know when it's really the right temperature. This will not only improve your cookies, but all your baking.
  • Cookies are not difficult to make, start to finish in 30 minutes ... there is no excuse for not making cookies, got it?
  • Is there anything as yummy as the smell of fresh baked cookies?
See ... I warned you, I *love* cookies. And I really think it is crazy to find out that there are people out there (shhhh, you might be one of them) that only make cookies say once a month or (gasp) every other month. I mean really ... you're missing out on a whole lot of simple love in your life. Seriously, try it ... make cookies once a week for a month and see how much happier you are :). And your kids and your husband ... yes, cookies are powerful and wonderful.

I've already made my batch for this week, but next week I plan to photograph my process, the tools I use and the finished product in hopes of spreading the cookie love. And you just never know ... I *might* just share some of my home baked love with one of you!

Happy Wednesday!

I love cookies too!! My favorite being chocolate chip. I probably bake cookies once a week. I have my favorites and don't usually do anything else, but a nephew of mine just requested chewy gingerbread cookies, not sure it's the right season but we're going to try them.

Oh and I love, love, love the totes you did for Melissa's moms!

I can not stand an empty cookie jar so I make cookies a lot. I just made some last night in fact. I agree with all your cookie facts too. I always have different things ready to make cookies. Well not right now because I'm trying to empty cupboards but you know what I mean.
I LOVE that first tote! Is it a custom order?

Who doesn't love cookies? However, I have serious self control issues so I can not make them every week. BUT, I did make some today and froze half so.... there you go!

Look at you sewing away! Love that pillow for your mom - I'm sure she's appreciated it these last few days. Is that orange tote for someone I know? Maybe a red headed friend of mine?

Love, love, love the stuffs!

Oh - I am a little bit sad that I've been replaced by a cookie scoop. :(

Shawn wanted me to make cookies at like 9:30 Sun night...now, if I had had some frozen ones, the poor guy would have gotten some fresh cookies...instead his wife said "no, it's too late" and than proceeded to get the stomach flue about 5 hours later....

I don't think my trainer would approve this message... like Summer, I have NO self control, I can't keep cookies around, I HAVE to eat them!

Sure wish I had some of your cookies right now! I just can't make them - so I don't! Maybe I will learn in my golden years. Didn't know that about my oven thermostat lying to me - maybe I can blame that for all my past failures! I have been liking the book pillow - figured out how to make it work pretty well for paperbacks. Love you!
