Monkey Do.

Remember how I declared last Tuesday "no sew" day and that carried into Wednesday ... what I did those to days I couldn't tell you right now, but I did not sew and I do think I *might* have enjoyed a nap :). Oh wait, I'm remembering ... we had play dates both Tuesday and Wednesday ... yes, that is why I need naps, LOL! And we had another play date on Friday and lunch with Grandma and Aunt Summer. Throw into that our "normal" routine, Awana on Wednesday night, Matt working late 3 of the 5 nights and I think that explains my absence from blogging :).
But back to the monkey ... isn't he so "toot"? I spotted the pattern for him on Thursday as I hopped around Etsy looking at all the wonderful-ness on there. By Thursday night I had a pink & orange version done (although I still haven't added eyes or a mouth to her - hence no picture). Ethan was so excited to help me stuff her, but decided he wanted one in different colors. So we looked through my scraps and found some appropriate boy monkey colors (who knew there was such a thing) and that little fella up there is what we came up with. I'm still perfecting the process ... more monkeys to come I'm sure.
That was my bit of distraction from the "real" sewing that needed done. Over the weekend I finished two more totes:

(I was pretty proud of myself on this one ... it's a bit hard to tell, but my aunt had requested an outside pocket. I had to think through this as I didn't want it to just be slapped on and ruin the "look" of the bag. So I incorporated it into the design and it's a fully lined pocket with a snap closure. Maybe not prefect, but pretty good for my first try and my own design.)

Not to worry about too much sewing going on around here ... I managed to nap both Saturday and Sunday as well go out to dinner and dessert last night with Matt. We haven't been on a date in some time, so it was a nice bit of "us" time ... we enjoyed dinner at PF Changs and dessert from Starbucks and drove around the city 'looking' just like our old dating days :).
*** Contest #1 ***
Well you all were no help coming up with contest ideas ... but I'm just itching to give away 2-3 different (and unique) prizes.
I'm going to go with a little theme here ... creativity.
The prize will be me sharing some of my creativity with you (and supplying you with creative ideas), but first, you have to share with me. Prize will be revealed when contest winner is revealed. I like secrets :).
To be eligible to win you need to show me where you create. Now, you don't have to be "crafty" or sew or scrapbook. You might like to knit or bake or who knows ... just take pictures of where you are creative. Either post them to your blog or e-mail me at knittybitties@gmail.com before Friday, April 25th at midnight (MST). For every picture you post, I'll enter your name to win :).
It's that easy ... I love to get a glimpse into other people's lives and I'm hoping with a little "incentive" you'll share with me :). And remember, it doesn't have to be perfect or professional looking or anything else ... I was sewing at my dining room table for Pete's sake! Just show me!
Happy Monday!!

I need some of those monkeys ASAP! Those are too cute! I'm absolutely positive I can incorporate them into our new playroom.
Of course I want to participate in your contest but my "area" is in shambles right now. I'm in the midst of packing. I'll make something work I suppose.

Loved the second purse and all the colors! Is it taken? Also the monkey was great!
I can muster up some ideas for craftyness but I think another fun one would be...
