First, a speck ... as in the speck in Horton Hears a Who. This movie is SO cute, SO, SO, SO cute (or "toot" as Ethan would say)! And a perfect "first movie" ... yes I know, our son is four and we've managed to keep him out of the theater until now, such a sheltered little life he's led :). He loved it so much he wanted to watch another one when Horton was over :).

Dust mites? Anyone else allergic to them? Well before we left for Oregon I went to an allergist to see about my re-occurring hives (really not that big of a deal, but for almost 6 months I've gotten them any time I take a shower). While the doctor thought it was probably heat induced, he went ahead and screened me for the basic allergens. Low and behold I'm allergic to cats, dogs & dust mites; grasses, weeds & sagebrush; oh and dairy and wheat. HA! So while it may have been suggested that I remove dairy and wheat from my diet for a week (as if) ... I decided to first try the prescription for a new allergy medicine, Xyzal, which treats indoor/outdoor and re-occurring hives with no 'reason'. One pill ... all hives gone. Good thing because I would have happily lived with the hives before I cut out dairy and wheat.
And cleaning ... ah yes, my love of cleaning. Well I just wanted to share that I've "gone green" so to speak with cleaning products. Yep, it's true. In fact I've wanted to do this for years as I've never really "enjoyed" the side effects of cleaning with all the harsh chemicals. And once Ethan was born I wouldn't let him near any area I was cleaning. After all if it made my sense of smell go wonky and was a bit harder to breath and I was afraid of mixing the wrong ones and having lethal fumes ... why would I let my baby inhale that? So, I started slowly making switches, using less and less but didn't feel like I could justify big money for some of the "green" products. But when I saw Clorox coming out with Green Works I looked into and stumbled upon them at drugstore.com. And in the end I went with the "Seventh Generation" line as they were on sell (and still are) for about the same as what I spend on those "other" cleaners. And if you spend $25 they ship free. Nice. And guess what? They work and don't smell ... at all. How nice to breath easy while I clean.
There you have it ... a speck of dust mite that needs cleaned! :).
Happy Friday, Happy Weekend!

I've been going green with cleaning for awhile now. I use method and seventh generation products. But my go to products are still vinegar and baking soda. Really, these two items clean a lot of stuff really well. Oh and I had a kiddo yesterday that has a toy microscope and all he could talk about was "do you see any house dust mites?"
Horton is such a cute movie. Glad Ethan got to the theater before he was 16, haha ;o)
I've gone green on cleaning products too. I couldn't stand that you could smell the cleaning products in the bathroom all day after they'd been cleaned...that just can't be good!
I'm glad Ethan enjoyed his first tripto the theater. I love taking the kids to see movies!
Our doctor keeps telling us to go to an allergist but I'm afraid they'd find that we are allergic to such essentials as milk. I already know I am. Garrett would die without his beloved milk!
Here's my question about "green" cleaning products - do they disinfect just as well as other cleaners? I too hate that smell & would gladly make the switch if I knew they disinfected well. Maybe I should do a little research before I go grocery shopping this afternoon.
We were so glad to be a part of E's first movie!! Plus it was a fabulous movie - loved it. Thank you for suggesting such a fun outing!!
Love the green cleaners too - yes Kelly, they work great! You should totally go for it. :)
