Yea for Moms & Grandmas ...

This wasn't the post I thought I would do for today, but it's what is on my heart right now and I think it deserves a special mention ... my mom and Ethan's grandma ... well we think she's very special (and not just because she buys us things ;).

I've been so blessed to have my mom close by since I moved out on my own 12 years ago (okay, I came back for a few months before Matt & I were married). Like really close, like less than 5 miles close until the last few years. Now, she's still close, just not as close ... more like a 45 minute drive, but that doesn't stop us from seeing each other as often as we can. I know so many people who would love to be this close to their parents, so I still count it as a blessing they are very near by and I wouldn't want them to have stayed in the city just for us ... they're loving that country air too much to take that away from them.

When they moved "out in the country" we started weekly (or almost weekly) lunch dates with Grandma so we'd get to see her more, and Grandma generously treats us to this lunch each week. She also takes time off of work to watch Ethan and spend time with us, as she did last night. Matt happened to be out of town for the night, so she stayed over and spent the morning and afternoon with us. We had Starbucks, shopping, a quick trip to the zoo (Grandma has been wanting to go for a long time) and then lunch before she headed off to her dentist appointment.

It was precious time that filled me heart and Ethan's and make us think that Grandmas are pretty special. Thanks Mom, your generosity and love overwhelm me and often leave me unsure of how to say "thank you" ... but know we love you (and like you) so very much!

Happy Wednesday!

Moms/Grandmas really are the best... that makes us the best too, right?

You leave me speechless. But as Bethany points out - you also are the best. And I wouldn't be who I am without you. It was a wonderful time for me also. Thank you

It may sound kind of funny to say but when I think about all those growing up years I often think of our moms, including Bethany & Jessie's moms too. So many of my memories involve our moms. We were all lucky to get such incredible moms who are now the best grandmas.
I'm glad you got to spend time with your mom yesterday.
