Did I forget to mention my first "welcome" to Hawaii? We had just enough time in Honolulu yesterday for me to use their restroom before we boarded our flight to Maui ...
and what should greet me in the bathroom stall? Oh yes, a cockroach!!
Thankfully I have not seen any since then ...
Okay, back to paradise ... our morning view today.
I think we woke up to 75+ degree weather at about 7AM.
We started the day at Starbucks (shocking ... I know) and then we were on our way to explore west Maui and wrapped back around through south Maui. We saw so many beautiful sights ... after lunch we hit one of the nearby beaches for our first try at snorkeling and testing out the underwater housing unit for our camera ...and what should greet me in the bathroom stall? Oh yes, a cockroach!!

This is the beach we snorkeled at ... could that be any more beautiful? Sadly, we only saw about 4 fish, but we did have fun figuring out snorkeling.
We headed back to our hotel to check out the famous snorkeling around Black Rock. Wow!! This was so fun, there were nice "little" fishies everywhere, schools of them ... coral and then all of a sudden, a turtle! Yes a sweet, not so little turtle that I got to see ... too bad I didn't have the camera with me ;). Later when Matt headed out further with me (and with the camera) we saw a ray of some type. And it was BIG and it scared me a bit to be honest with you ... I'm pretty sure "Steve Irwin" flashed through my mind. I quickly headed back to shore, a bit scared and my legs pretty tired. Oh and the picture of the ray? Well between the thing swimming right at Matt and him trying to get the camera from me ... well we didn't get a picture, but Matt is totally digging the snorkeling and I'm sure there will be more exciting pictures to come.
After showering off all the salt & sand, we hit Maui Tacos for some dinner. YUM! Then walked the beach down to get a shake from Hagan Daaz. Life is pretty nice ...
I'm off to sleep. Happy Wednesday!!

Thanks for blogging every day, it's like i'm living vicariously sp? through you. In fact I turned the heat up today to 75 just to see what that would feel like. Just kidding though I did turn it up to 70!
Work's going well, I got a compliment from a mom the other day who, I teach two of her boys. Anyway I ended up telling her I have 3 boys of my own and she said me too! Her's are each one year older than mine. We could instantly relate on the chaos that inevitably takes over some days... ok most days!
Ah Hawaii, with no kids... maybe in another 10 years we can go, but for now keep sending pictures and blogging.
Sounds like a wonderful bit of heaven! Thanks for taking the time to share it with us! Looking forward to the next post already! :)
I'm totally jealous!
looks like you are having the most amazing time!
I'm mostly jealous of the turtle....Shawn and I love turtles and we saw none when we went snorkeling in HI...everyone else I know who's been as seen one...here's to more luck for you!
But "why"??? "why does her have that ding on her face?" "why does her need to breave?" "why"???
hmmm...wow showing a certain tiny boy a picture of his mom made for a very interesting conversation!
Glad to see you are having soooo much fun!
OH Boy - reacting to Julie's comment - I can see we are in for some fun!!! Looks fabulous, and I am SO HAPPY you two are doing this. Snorkeling is the coolest thng I think - although I only have done it once. But then again we didn't have it quite so close to where we stayed...
