In the fish lottery that is ...
We headed out early this morning, trying to get a glimpse of dolphins that swim through La Perouse Bay.
We missed the dolphins (if there were any) but decided to brave the lava fields and take a mile hike out to the "aquarium."
This is what we hiked through ... a'a lava rack ... which means very sharp.
But it was totally worth it when we made it the "aquarium" cove. You could see the fish before we even got in the water and they were swimming around our feet as we walked in.We headed out early this morning, trying to get a glimpse of dolphins that swim through La Perouse Bay.

And this is one of the first things we saw ...
This fish is a beautiful rainbow of colors, our rainbow trout doesn't have anything on this guy.
Look at this school of fish ... don't they look like they're doing a little synchronized swimming? Well except for that one guy ... he's way out of form. And the water, well, it's even more blue and brilliant than you can capture on camera.
Matt took over 200 pictures today and I could only pick four to upload for this post ... this one gives you a good idea of looking down into the cove.
We were pretty tired after the hike, snorkeling and sun ... so we headed back to the hotel. Showered up, did a little laundry in paradise and headed to dinner at "Cheeseburger in Paradise." Another fun spot to eat with a great view of the ocean and the beginning of the sunset. We topped the night off with a milkshake and a little shopping. Now at the early hour of 8PM we're headed to bed ... we're getting up at 3AM (that's normal wake up time in our Mountain Time zone) to witness the sunrise from Haleakala. It so better be worth that early wake up and drive. Stay tuned for pictures tomorrow ...
** Each day my heart starts to ache a bit more for a hug and a kiss from my boy. I know we're never far from his heart and mind either. Today he told Grandma he was thinking about his mom and that he missed me. Thankfully he's not upset, just missing us, as we are him. Only 2 more days. **
Happy Saturday!

What an awesome hike! I would just love to see all those fish! I think I'd love the cheeseburger and milkshake too :)
Can't wait to see the sunrise pics!
You'll know how very pregnant I am when the cheeseburger and milkshake were the highlight of your post for me.:)
I'm glad you guys did the hike and got to see all those incredible fish - wow!
I can't wait to see the pictures of the sunrise. I can only imagine how beautiful that would be!
Hope Sunday was as wonderful as Saturday! And I didn't even ask about the sunrise when you called... :) Might have been the circus in the bathroom - Grandpa holding the phone, Lucky trying to see what Ethan, Grandpa and Grandma were doing, and Elvis hissing and puffing because Lucky wanted in the bathroom! So I guess I was a little distracted! Looking forward to the pictures tomorrow! Ethan is in bed and we are winding down from another great but busy day!
