It really is the little things ...

... in life that make the biggest impact.

As a mom, especially a mom who is at home all day, I've tried to do little things each day to show Ethan how important he is to me. Not in buying him things, or taking him on grand vacations (though those things can be wonderful too), but in doing little things, that usually aren't convenient or the easiest choice, to put a smile on his face and bring joy to his day.

One such thing started about a year ago when I made a recipe for french toast and it had the idea of cutting it into a heart. I thought it was cute and the next day tried it out on Ethan's PB&J (on of 3 daily lunch options for my "adventurous" eater) sandwich. Oh the smile and oh how quickly the sandwich was ate. It is now a given, not an option, that the sandwich will be in a shape ... so much so that when he eats lunch elsewhere, say Aunt Julie's or Bethany's, the sandwich maker must get creative if they don't have an available cookie cutter. Aunt Julie made an "E" sandwich most recently and Bethany is known for her star sandwiches. So, leave it to Bethany to surprise Ethan with a present at Claire's birthday party ... a sandwich cutter, no less ... and it cuts out 2 dinosaurs!

So, whether it is letting him help make cookies, roll out pretzels, dust, "fold" laundry, or any other handful of things ... I try to remember that his day really is all about the little things and each time I say yes, his day is a little brighter. I trust that while he may not remember each one, he'll remember the reason I said yes.

Happy Monday!
(P.S. Two new totes are up in the shop! :)

What a good mommy you are! And Ethan is such a sweetheart, who wouldn't want to go out of their way to make him smile :)
