Ten on Tuesday ...

Get ready for a random list of "blog worthy" things I've thought about the last few days:

1. I heard the term "converfaktion" on the radio this week and was totally laughing. Have you ever done this? Had a fake conversation just so you didn't have to talk to someone? I know someone who has done this for a long time with her cell phone ... most recently in the Starbucks drive-thru :).

2. I got to take 2 naps this weekend. Each time I crawl into my bed for a nap I think "I need to take a picture of my bed and post about how it's my favorite spot in the house." It really is. Our room is nothing elaborate, in fact it is hardly even decorated, but I love our cozy bed with lots of pillows and blankets. Perfect for a nap!

This is the best picture I could find of our bed ... with last year's little dragon in it.
Did you know (according to Ethan) that cozy is Spanish for comfortable?

3. I finished my grocery shopping for this budget period and I'm only a little more than $4 over my budget. The new budget period starts Friday, so I'm feeling pretty good about things.

4. I was SO productive yesterday I wiped myself out. I was in bed and asleep at 9:45PM! What did I do? I cleaned the downstairs, including tackling the master shower which I despise. I got all laundry done, folded and put away! I made a delicious dinner with an equally (if not more so) delicious dessert. Oh and I did the grocery shopping I mentioned above. Phew ...

5. Flaxseed? Have you tried it? Thoughts? I bought some ground flaxseed meal yesterday thinking/hoping to add it some of my baked goods. I don't eat fish, so I figure it would help me with my Omega 3's?

6. I finally completed a give away for my Knitty Bitties blog. One down, one to go ... lesson learned ... do not give something away before it is made.

Sneak Peek for Andrea.

7. Finished a skirt that I can't wait to see on my favorite pregnant girl :).

8. Today Ethan told me two things about preschool ...

"Johnny told me he didn't like my back pack" AND
"Johnny told me my new pirate song was stupid."

The mama bear in me doesn't like "Johnny" very much because this is typical behavior. What made me smile though was when Ethan told me, "I just ignored him," when I asked what he did. There was a time he would have cried and been really upset by those words. We've tried really hard to emphasize that we can choose how we react to people being unkind and whether or not we let them hurt our feelings.

9. It seems that the prior year's seasons effect the fall foliage. This makes perfect sense, but I don't know that I had ever thought of it. This year (at least I think so) has been exceptionally beautiful. Sunday we enjoyed a nice dinner downtown and then took in some fresh air as we walked along the river and enjoyed the brilliant fall colors.

10. I have a bushel of apples in my garage ... wow, 40+ lbs of apples? That seems like a lot, but each box is supposedly a half bushel. Maybe I'll jump on the scale while holding a box to see how true Wiki Answers is ... then again, probably not. Either way I have A LOT of apples. I need to get canning ... applesauce and apple pie filling, YUM! And thanks to Kelly, blackberry jam will be canned this week too!

Happy Tuesday! Money saving updates and encouragement up next!

My mom uses flax oil for a lot of things and actually chugs a shot of it everyday, it's more effective than taking tons of flax oil capsules. Cooking with it is a good idea. I'm thinking about doing applesauce and apple butter for the first time this year...never canned before, so we'll see. Love that skirt for Miss Jessie!

You tell 'Johnny' that I don't appreciate his comments to my little boy. Just say the word, & I'll take care of him... :)

Love your top 10! I like your bed for naps too - it's a good nap bed. Very cool pic of the river!! Yeah for fall!

I can't WAIT to get my skirt! How cute is it!?! Thank you!!

Lovely picture Matt! Such a beautiful time of year, isn't it.

Look at you making maternity clothes now! Maddy just saw that skirt and says "that's a cute skirt". Great job!

Doesn't it stink when kids are mean to your child. Maddy has come home at said people made fun of her water bottle she brings (it's just a small one). I felt like telling her to open it up at toss that water on them but of course we told her how to respond in a good way.

Great top ten and I am very excited to see my bag made the list :) Thank you!!
