So, I'm having to stop myself from posting about my money saving adventures from this week and instead am sharing some creative inspiration that has caught my eye.
Don't worry the money saving post is coming (in fact I'm going to type it up right after this one) tomorrow!
Since I've tightened our "extra spending" budget, these ideas really jumped out at me as they are very inexpensive and/or free!
"Boo" your neighbor - Have you done this before? Have you been "booed"? Guess what ... while I know of this going on, I have never been booed and have never done the booing. This year I'm going to change that. I love the idea here - dressing up your pumpkin and the carmel apple makings? Brilliant.
Cost - $1 for the pumpkin and a few dollars depending upon what you put in the pumpkin.
Halloween silhouettes - Ethan has been requesting some "scary" Halloween decorations. I'm not big on the scary part of Halloween and focus more on "fall" when decorating the house. But I saw this idea for silhouettes and loved it! I just wish I had a big roll of black paper at my disposal so I could do the witch in our front window. For now we've just done a small witch, bats and crows. I put some on the living room window, a kitchen cabinet and the accent window by our front door. Just search for "witch silhouette" and you'll get a bunch to choose from. I enlarged the image in Photoshop to fit an 8.5 x11 paper and then printed, cut and traced onto black cardstock and cut again :).
Cost - Free
"Boo" Pumpkins - I saw this yesterday or the day before in one of my "blog hops." Is that not the cutest? I loved it! And then I quickly dismissed it for another year as it would definitely count as and extra I did not need. BUT then I happened into JoAnn's to buy necessary thread for the shop when I saw the Funkins (the foam pumpkins) for 60% off. Now the large ones were still something like $6/each on sale. But the tiny little funkins (5-6 inch round) were $1.99/each. That sweetened the deal and I bought three to make my own little set of B-O-O pumpkins. For now I think they will go on the dining room table ... maybe next year I'll have more wiggle room in the budget for the candlesticks to hold them on the fireplace. I'm still debating if I will paint them cream or leave them orange.
Cost - $6
Counting Down to Halloween - This one I got from the great blog, Make and Takes (which I think may have led me to some of the above ideas too). I was lucky enough to stumble on this post BEFORE October had started. So, on October 1st, Ethan and I crafted our Halloween Countdown Jack-o-Lantern who hangs on the fridge. Paper chains are such a great visual for "time" with young children. I get asked far fewer times a day ... "how many days until Halloween?"
We've still got just over two weeks until Halloween ... any fun crafting/decorating you want to share?
I should break out the camera and show you our little bits of Fall/Halloween decorating! I have been HORRIBLE about taking pictures (obviously, look how boring this blog is getting!). That is one of my goals for the rest of this week and next week ... more pictures of everyday life!
Happy Wednesday!

Great ideas! I hope you post a pic of your BOO pumpkins when they are finished.
Ooh, I love the BOO pumpkins! I'm not sure what color of orange they are, but I think they'd be cute in an orange that coordinates with your home decor.
Boo'd goes around our neighborhood every year. It's fun to get and give something fun.
I love the boo pumpkins. What a cute idea!
Love those BOO pumpkins. I bought glitter letters in the dollar section at JoAnn's to make a BOO banner ($3), but haven't done it yet. I really want to buy white fake pumpkins and paint them with black and orange polka dots, but I'm not going to spend the money...maybe I'll get the pumpkins on clearance after Halloween for next year....
How about a picture of the silhouettes! I'd love to see them!
Love you!
