(M) "Was that you?" (From downstairs to me upstairs)
(A) "Was what me?" (Slightly annoyed as I was just wrapping up putting E to bed)
(M) "The car ..."
(A) "Oh, yeah, I heard that too, I think it was a car out front." (Now understanding he was asking about the car we had just heard honking ... like when you hit your panic button)
(M) "No, it was YOUR car." (Oh so now it's MY car?) "Did you bump your keys"
(A) (Seriously, are you asking me if I bumped my car keys while I was upstairs putting our child to bed?!?!) "Uhm, no"
By now I am downstairs and Matt is in the garage. Apparently I (or we ... me and my little friend) had left one of the back car doors ajar which had left the dome light on which had run the battery low. And apparently some genius decided when the battery gets low your car should honk at you as a nice warning.
Okay, so Matt is able to start the car and drives around until 10:30PM hoping to re-charge the battery. He gets home, gets in bed (I'm already asleep) and that is that. Until 11:08 when we hear the most obnoxious sound ... uhm, yes ... the car honking in panic mode for something like 10 honks!! I suspect our neighbors were loving this as much as we were. Matt un-hooks the battery and we go to bed.
I drive our other car the next day. Matt arrives home and checks the charge on the battery and it looks like it's holding. We go to bed (do you know where this is going?) ... until 5:03AM when we hear that most obnoxious sound again. Seriously?!?
It really is pretty funny now ... I mean it's like our fire alarms. The battery never runs down in the day time does it? Oh no, it's at 2AM waking you out of a sound sleep. Then you get the ladder and go to change the battery only to find you don't have any to replace it. So you should be able to just take out the dead battery and deal with it at a sane hour, right? Oh no, those little sweeties are wired to continue that obnoxious chirp until you put in a fresh battery or rip it out of the ceiling.
And what about going into labor? Does that ever have in the middle of the day? Well it sure doesn't if your in pre-term labor on a very cold December morning. Nope, again, that would also be at 2AM.
I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened too ... anything been beeping around your house or waking you up at the most inconvenient of hours (and Kelly, Graham doesn't count!)?!?!
**Okay, so I take it back, the story is NOT funny anymore, my mood changed when Matt brought the car home with new battery an hour ago and 20 minutes later the honking started. Let's pray that was just a "yea, I have a new battery" celebration by the car. **
Be back later with some coupon updates :).

Seriously, why does this stuff have to happen in the middle of the night?! Kinda reminds me of that Friends episode :)
Totally laughing out loud here!
That has happened to us with the smoke detector. Like it was ripped out of the ceiling and had been thrown in the garage and it was still beeping. I thought it was funny but Mike did not.
Well I'm glad it's not beeping anymore. It has stopped right? Have you driven it since it stopped? I hope that doesn't make it start again.
I once had a car horn that honked for no reason...seriously I would be driving down the freeway and it would start honking...talk about embarassing...I had to take it in to be fixed, apparently some piece of the air bag had come loose and was effecting the horn.
Several nights this week, my ridiculous cell phone, which has the worst battery in the world, starts beeping to indicate low battery around 2 or 3am. Initially I dream about a beeping cell phone and than I wake up and realize it's mine and I have to get up and plug it in or turn it off....Lovely!
Ha! I know it shouldn't laugh at you, but I am. It's only funny because it's not me. When I was dating Rick in high school his horn got stuck "on" once and we had to drive all the way back to my house with it blaring ;)
I hope the new battery celebration is over and you can go back to quiet, honk free nights!
