I totally forgot ...

... to blog about something ... something so "I can't believe I'm watching this" that I turned to Matt and said, "this is SO going on the blog." And then I forgot ... but a similar, although not nearly the same level of offensiveness happened yesterday, jogging my "to blog about" memory :).

Now please, this is really just my opinion, I could be totally off base here and of the minority thinking ... but I *don't think so* ... see what you think.

A few weeks ago we were enjoying lunch at our favorite Mexican restaurant. We were seated in a booth, Ethan and I on one side, Matt on the other. We were diagonal from another couple with a child who were seated similarly to us. So we're eating chips, enjoying delicious fountain Pepsi (Mmmmm) when I look up to see the mother at the other table CHANGING her TWO YEAR OLD's DIAPER on the BOOTH BENCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously? Seriously? Seriously?

Then they both go to the bathroom to dispose of the diaper (which was at one time set on the table) and maybe wash their hands? And without exaggeration this happened a second time ... all within the maybe 45 minutes we were there.

Am I wrong to be absolutely appalled and grossed out by this? Matt can testify that I was full on tarring with my mouth hanging open in shock!

I understand that this is a tiny place and there may not have been a changing station in the bathroom, but the parking lot was right outside the main door and wouldn't it have been so much better (on social, sanitary, privacy and other levels) to take care of this matter in your car? Or wait?

OH MY!

So the less offensive event that took place was on our nature walk yesterday where a couple was changing their child on a park bench. And while this is something I wouldn't do, mainly for sanitary and privacy reasons, it wasn't offensive like the other.

And because I don't think I can end on that stinky note ...

I wanted to share that I've deemed June the "no spend" month for me. Now we're only 9 days into it and I haven't had 100% success, but I am doing much better than I normally do. At the end every month when our credit card statement comes (which we pay off monthly) I have this "wake up" of just how much "nickle and diming" I do. You know, $10 here, $6 here another $20 here ... which all adds up to a lot at the end of the month. And really, we all live is such abundance that it's not just frustrating (owing more than I want to pay) but it's just plain ridiculous how much stuff we all have. So, the things I tend to spend $ on are craft & hobby related and clothing (for all of us). Well, I have tons and tons of scrapbooking product that needs used before I buy more, tons of fabric that needs sewn and more than enough clothes to see me through several weeks. The other reality is that we have a trip to pay off and I want to build our savings, so I imposed this "order" on myself (Matt really isn't the spender around here ... he puts me to shame with how little he buys for himself). Now I did allow myself to spend for Father's Day, birthdays and other things that come up. Just nothing for me :). So far I've bought 2 magazines and 2 yards of fabric for a blouse. I didn't need any of them, but the project in the magazine (sewing of course) got me and the fabric was such a good deal I couldn't resist. Here's hoping I'm even better this next week ... maybe I'll start a running total in the sidebar to help keep myself in check.

Alright, that's enough chatter with no pictures ... we're off to enjoy this bit of sun today!!
Happy Monday!!

You've got to be kidding me! Seriously, what are people thinking?!? Who would ever change their baby, I'm hoping at least a newborn (not that it makes it any better), on the TABLE. Gross, gross, gross.

I always changed in the bathroom and or in the car. Okay there was the poop in Wal-mart, but it was a different situation. ;o)

Good luck on the less spending. This one I'm not going to play along with. ;o)

O.k., absolutely disgusting!! N.A.S.T.Y!! Seriously, if you are going to get up to go to the bathroom to throw the nasty away, why not just change it there or in the car.

Best of luck on the less spending. It is so hard to do but one thing Jeff and I have implemented every since becoming a SAHM was to do use the cash only method. We have a set amount of entertainment money each week. When it's gone, it's gone. We stay home, watch our own movie, eat our own food...it works well.

You are not alone sister! That is just plain gross! It's bad enough we have to look at our own kids diapers, but strangers, in a restaurant, WHILE YOU ARE EATING, is disgusting! I don't know if I'd been able to keep my mouth shut!

I'm thinking I might have embarrassed your dad - cause I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have kept my mouth shut!
