Waking up to snow is always a treat, even more so if you're three, even more so if you don't have to go anywhere and can stay warm and cozy in the house with the white winter wonderland just outside your window.
If it weren't for the sinus pressure in my head, I think I would have been doing the dance of joy ... thanking the Good Lord that I had gone grocery shopping yesterday morning. Yes, on the holy of holies I was grocery shopping, but it was SO needed after almost 2 weeks of no grocery shopping. And we were sick enough that well, the only people I felt okay sharing the love with was grocery shoppers, since it's highly likely that is where we got it to begin with.
** Stay tuned for tomorrow when I ask you about grocery shopping ... now if that isn't a blog teaser I don't know what is! :P **
So, with the fireplace going, Ethan playing in the little bit of snow (it was quickly melting), I set about cleaning the house (also neglected the last few weeks of a deep cleaning). And it made me happy, and I drank a lot of iced tea and was nice and toasty warm ... and I sneezed a lot, and coughed a few times and blew my nose until I was having to apply vaseline to it every 3 minutes. But it was still a great start to the week.
I also was without internet for over 5 hours this afternoon ((GASP)), forced to focus on cleaning, laundry, playing with Ethan, eating a real lunch and then resting on the couch while E napped. Once we came back online, I re-located the mornings highly sought out "Best Rolled Sugar Cookie" recipe and made up a batch. Ethan is my little baking helper (shown here helping stir up some muffins this weekend) and we'll be cutting out and baking cookies tomorrow to get a jump start on our holiday goodie tins.

(Don't worry I don't let him lick his fingers if we're sharing our treats ... at least not when we're sick ;)
Oh and I have to add a bit about last night so I don't forget ;). We watched Home Alone together and Ethan wasn't too sure (as it wasn't a cartoon) at first, but by the time they got to where the "wet bandits" try to break in ... oh my! He was on the edge of the couch, laughing and being as squirrely as all get out. Too funny ... and he kept saying, "I knew that would work" after each part. I can see family movie night definitely being a weekly tradition we'll try to stick with in coming years.
Hope your week is off to a great start, Happy Monday!!

It's a bummer you have a head cold but good job at getting things done. That definately would have been an excuse for me not to clean :) Cute pics of Ethan from the snow this morning. Wasn't that a beautiful surprise to wake up to?! Maddy is now praying for snow that doesn't melt away so maybe the next snowfall will actually stick around for awhile. Hope you feel better soon!
I want the day you had...well, without the head cold. Everything else sounded great though. Those sugar cookies are the ones I've been making the past several years. Did you like them? I think I just said the same thing in that email didn't I? I told you I was tired.
I can hear Ethan saying that about the movie. He is so funny! Movie night is very fun! You should definitely make it a weekly thing. We love it!
What great pics of Ethan... is that boy EVER going to stop being so darn cute? How in the world is Claire going to resist that charm someday?!? I'm glad your day was great, and it sounds like your cold is starting to wind down.. let's hope it's over soon and you are ache, cold, flu, and everything else free for awhile! (I think you've had your unfair share).
I'm sorry you're sick, I know the feeling, I finally ran out of snot and i'm playing catch up! Good for you getting stuff done. I"m impressed as usual by you. I often think, how does she do it all?
Wishing you health and soon
blessings,
