Which just happens to perfectly match my kitchen. Without planning on it, I seem to have a kitchen of red, black & blue :). It all started with a dining room rug which I once loved, but now can't seem to get rid of ... I've tried, it keeps coming back. And when I loved the rug I purchased the three Kitchen Aid appliances which now sit on our counters every single day (toaster, food processor and my oh so loved mixer).

I thought I would try to mix things up a bit when we bought our dining room chairs (to go with the trestle table Matt built us) at IKEA five years ago. I choose red and black, again hoping we might get rid of that blue rug.
Well through a comedy of errors we had to purchase a new dining room table for current house as the trestle table was too big for the space (don't worry it later became a sofa table and end table for the living room). So, I choose a black table to go with the red & black chairs. I even bought a red/cream striped rug for under the table. And yet, today what is back under the table? The blue rug.

Guess what? I'm starting to embrace the color scheme. It's a more modern "americana" I suppose.

Polka dot cake stand and dessert plates (birthday gifts from me mama & papa) from here.
Happy Friday!
