Easter and Spring Crafting ...

I'm pretty sure I learned my lesson on posting grand promises or goals of things like " I'm going to craft something new every day for 14 days." Seriously, that is crazy talk :). In fact, I'm not even going to promise you'll ever see these crafts (aside from the one I already completed) ... because well, it could be July before I do it and then it just doesn't seem so relevant any more (that is how I feel about the February pictures of our Valentine crafts we did end up doing).

So, here are some Spring/Easter crafts that caught my eye recently that I have made/am making or would like to make ...

"Grow your own wheatgrass" ...
Grass shooters here we come. Or ... not. We started our grass yesterday and I'm hoping it'll be nice and tall, filling the containers, just in time for Easter. It should make an adorable centerpiece.

Cost: $3.50
($1.00 for wheat and $2.50 for potting soil ... I used a bowl and planter we already had.)
Time Investment: 10 - 15 minutes

"Happy Easter" Shadow Box ...
Lucky for me I stocked up on some IKEA Ribba frames while in Seattle. I'm planning to make this one today or tomorrow. I'm going to use my butterfly punch (although I love the bunny I think it falls into the un-necessary category ... big time) and make it say Happy Spring. That way I can use it for several months :).

Cost: $5.00
($5.00 Frame ... I'm using scrap booking supplies from my stash for the rest.)
Time Investment: 30 minutes

"Crafty Yarn Egg Decor" ...
I found a similar craft a few weeks ago and bookmarked it, but I love the size of these eggs and the yarn color choices.

Cost: Free ... Maybe
(We have balloons & glue and I have plenty of yarn in my stash, but JoAnns has these new yarns that would be scrumptious.)
Time Investment: unknown

"Egg Pockets" ...
I think these little pockets are adorable. I'm not sure what I would use them for, but I think I should make a few.

Cost: Free ... Maybe
(I have all the materials on hand, but if you don't, they sell kits in their Etsy shop.)
Time Investment: unknown

And my new favorite spring/Easter craft ...

"Peeps Garland" ...
I saw this on Monday ... love at first sight. I used to really, really, really love Peeps. Now not so much, but getting to enjoy them without having to eat them = perfection. Kelly pointed out that she does not believe the bunnies are true Peeps ... that they should only make the chicks. I agree, the chicks are the original, but the bunnies make a much cuter garland :).

Cost: $2.50
(I didn't have yellow felt (it's on sale right now for $2.49/yd at JoAnns and you need less than 1/2yd. I also bought brown fabric paint (also on sale right now).)
Time Investment: 1 1/2 hours

A few more pictures of our sparse spring/Easter decor ...

The branches (that just won't go away according to Matt :) decked out for Easter with eggs :).

A little birds nest AND the Easter Bunny (courtesy of Ethan ... who would like you to know that the Easter Bunny is a GOOD Legend).

And our happy Spring mantle :). Love it!

Happy Day!
(P.S. If you read my Knitty Bitties blog, there will be a very similar post ... don't feel the need to post both places ;D).

Such cute craft ideas! The little egg pockets are adorable and they almost look like you could use them as spring oven mits???

I just haven't gotten into spring crafts this year. I don't know why. We might do the string balloons next week. I remember doing those in Girl Scouts way back when.
And I'm with Jessie - is the green T new? I noticed it Tuesday night but forgot to ask.

I need to do the wheat grass! Too cute. I won't have it done for Easter, but it's still great for spring!
