Robot Room

Long ago ... like 15 months ago, I decided I wanted to make E a quilt for his new full size bed rather than purchase one. So I went about picking 'boy' fabrics (not so easy, trust me) that would coordinate with the current color scheme (blue, red, green ... in the form of stripes). I settled on a fun robot fabric line and then picked other prints to coordinate. The main solid color of the quilt was 'candy blue' which is a pretty close match to the blue stripe in his room.

Fast forward to a year later and I was determined to finish the quilt for E's 6th birthday and also re-vamp his wall decor to make it more of a 'robot room.'

So, let's have a peek ...

"Greetings, Earthlings."

The quilt that started it all ...

The vinyl decals (the door and wall) as well as the wall art work came from Etsy. I think I spent under $50 for 2 vinyls, 4 postcard prints, 1 'E' robot print and the 'I love you' robot print.

E's shelf of treasures :).

New wall of art above E's bed.

E got this nightlight from Santa ... he must have known about the robot room because this sure goes with the theme.

And what is a room with out a galaxy on the ceiling ...

Aside from the expense of the quilt, I think the total was re-do was under $75 including 4 new frames and mats.

A few more things waiting to be made - matching pillowcases (check), laundry basket, mini 'rocket' quilt and accent pillow.

I love the way it turned out and hope that it's a perfect balance between little boy and bigger boy to last us a few years.

Happy Day!
