Happy Birthday Mom!

Some people might buy their mom a present ... or take her out to dinner ... or bake her a cake ... for her birthday.

Not me though ... No sir-ree.

I thought I would run 3.1 miles to say ...

"Happy Birthday Mom! Without you in the world, there wouldn't be me. So thanks for giving me life and wishing my stumpy little baby legs into long legs that could run all 3.1 miles. I love you for that ... and many, many other reasons too!"

There I am, getting ready to cross the finish line. My 'official' final time was ... 30:24. Not my best, not my worst ... I really don't care as long as I've ran it all.

And here I am with my sweet boys celebrating my run (one is behind the camera ... not behind me (I don't know him, I'm sure he's sweet to someone :D)). They have come out to cheer me on at all 4 of my 5K races.

The icing on the cake for this race? Getting to run with (kind of ... I may have ran ahead ... I'm not a very supportive running friend am I?!?) my very best friend. She worked really hard these past few weeks and despite her mind telling her to walk during a lengthy climb in elevation, her body kept going. Whoo-hoo for you Jess! I hope this is your first of many more fun runs. I can't wait to join you for more ... I'm now a traveling runner :).

Speaking of first time 5K runners ... a shout out to my SIL, Julie, who finished her first 5K race the day before ours (March 13th) despite snow and rain. And her race time was 34:09!! Hello, awesome!

And Mom, Happy Birthday ... thanks for being understanding and letting us post pone your celebration until today :). Love you!

Happy Sunday!

Nice update and about running too! It looked like fun. When I ran, I tried to tell myself that my time didn't matter and that running the whole thing is in important. I ran the whole thing! Yea to Jessie too!

Happy Birthday Renee! Thank you for letting your daughter come run with me - she's the best friend that a girl could ever ask for. So glad you had her for me! :)
