You know it's a bowling party ...

When you open the door and the lingering scent of years of cigarette smoke (even if it's now non-smoking) hit you ... and then you notice the couple making out on the pool table ...

Yep, you're here, welcome to the party!

Thankfully our audience aged 6 and under didn't care about the atmosphere, they were here to have some fun. I'm so glad we picked a bowling party. What it lacked in charm, it made up for with plenty of smiles and fun!

This was Ethan's "Friends" Party (which also happened to be all boys). It's not something we'll do every year, but we thought FIVE was a pretty big deal. So he and his five closest friends spent the afternoon celebrating. After bowling we went to the "party room" where the kids had cake and chocolate chip cookies and cookie dough ice cream. I had planned to make chocolate cupcakes that looked like bowling balls, however after the first batch bubbled over, Ethan informed me he really just wanted chocolate chip cookies. What a sweet boy I have ... I was happy to be off the hook for cupcakes.

Overall this was one of the easiest parties I've ever done, totally made for a stress free, very fun birthday. The most difficult thing I took on was making the party favors for the kids. Back in December I saw this post and thought the idea very cute. Well when trying to think of a good favor these came to mind. I went pretty simple, just painting the stripes on the dowels making them into "pins" and including a wooden ball. Packaged up in a cloth sack and I have to say they were adorable and very well received.

Shhh ... do you hear that? I think I hear a dinosaur growling ...
