A weekend of celebration ...

First, I have to back track ... I'm not sure how I forgot this one, but on Tuesday, December 2nd, we added a little bit of sparkle to Ethan's room:

Watching him "light up" over this simplest addition to his room just melts my heart. He's been spending a lot more time in his room, enjoying his lights. He even requested a rest on Friday so he could have his lights on during it (we don't leave them on at night). And I've caught him more than a few times sitting in his reading corner, reading a book by Christmas light.

Friday & Saturday ... lots of holiday fun ... starting to really feel like the time is upon us.

  • Picking up a few more ornaments for our tree at Wal*Mart of all places ("Joy, Peace and Merry" ... in red glitter :) ). Last year my sister gave me a very cool, wooden, ornament that says, "Hope." I was so happy when I pulled it out this year and placed it at the top of the tree, just under our star.
  • Friday night was our ladies Christmas party at church. Jessica picked me up and it was fun to hang out and get a chance to catch up.
  • Saturday I woke up feeling off ... soar throat, headache and that foggy head feeling. Matt let me sleep in until almost 9AM when he woke me up and asked if I wanted my breakfast in bed or in the kitchen. So nice.
  • We hung out Saturday morning, each of us doing our own thing ... me: sewing, Matt: woodworking, Ethan: a little bit of everything. Then I headed out to lunch with my parents and our family friend, Lisa, for lunch and then on to my sister's theatrical debut. It was a fun afternoon, but missing my afternoon nap, made me a tired girl.
  • Having already promised Ethan dinner out and a Christmas lights tour, we headed out again. Dinner was nice and I didn't mind sitting in the car, with my heated seat making me very cozy, looking at the beautiful lights. I did however nod off a few times and Matt decided I better get home to bed ... but not before grabbing a little "dessert" at Starbucks. I managed to stay awake the rest of the way home and enjoyed my Carmel Apple Cider.
I'll finish up our weekend tomorrow ... on the blog that is ... it's pretty much finished from wear I sit right now. Once I hit publish post I'm crawling in to bed to finish one Christmas book and start another.

You'll really want to check in tomorrow ... I've got a giveaway to announce!!

Happy Weekend!!

I was so happy to see that ornament on the top of your tree! I had completely forgotten about the ornaments we got last Christmas, kind of a cool memory to think about :) Thanks again for coming! I had no idea you weren't feeling well and I can only imagine how watching medieval drama could add to your tiredness :) Happy Monday!

Sounds like a nice weekend! I like your new ornaments. Can't go wrong with red sparkle! I hung lights up in the kids rooms yesterday. I like you idea of just stringing them over the window. Darn those dumb suction cups. I am sure when the kids wake up I will go in to see my unreliable suctions have let go...

Claire loves her lights too. I need to move them to her new room.
I can't wait to go out looking at lights. Maybe this week. And, of course, it's always better with Starbucks in hand :)
