"Give Thanks"

So back in September (I'm pretty sure I've had it that long) I bought this banner kit from K&CO that is orange glittered squares with the letters to spell "Give Thanks." I was all excited to get it and embellish it and hang it from my mantle starting November 1st. Well that day has come and gone in a hurry ... and so I thought, I'll have it up in time to start my two weeks of thanksgiving posts. Well I'm so up to my eyeballs in sewing projects I just can't justify the time right now. Maybe I'll take a break this weekend when I've made more sewing progress and work on it then ... or now that I'm thinking out loud, I think I'll hang it up in it's bare bones form and not worry about embellishing it unless I have time ... okay, that is settled, I'll take a picture of it tomorrow :).

Today I'm going to start a daily post of what I'm thankful for and hopefully most days, a picture to go with it ... but I'm not going to stress over that part.

I plan to do a very simple album like this one by Jessica Sprague:

If you go to this post, you can read about how she put it together and download the files to make your own. Easy Peasy.

Another idea, suggested by the mini book queen, is using this template by Cathy Zielske which gives you little "tickets" to fill out daily for a month. This could carry through December and start off that month with gratitude (never a bad thing to have an extra measure of that around the holidays).

Also on Cathy's blog is this gratitude journal that she put together, inspired by Emily Falconbridge.

(Am I a scrapbook name dropper or what?!?)

Today I am thankful for my hardworking husband. Today and yesterday I was very aware of the sacrifices we make as a family for his job. He doesn't always love his job and I think sometimes doubts his career choice, but no matter his mood for the day, he is a very hard worker ... a dependable, honest, respectable man of integrity. I am so thankful that he works so hard so that first and foremost, I can be at home raising our son. Yesterday he worked 18 hours, came home and slept for about 4 hours and has put in another 13 hours today. These days can often be long for me and we sure miss daddy when he's not home for the "awake hours" but it's a sacrifice we all make and usually it pays off with longer weekends together, more vacation time and the blessing of a little extra pay which seems to be just the right amount.

Happy Thursday!

We are also thankful for the work your husband does and for you putting up with it.

Now get back in that sewing room!
