The quest for the perfect jean. Please tell me the rest of you have as much trouble as I do finding that your perfect fit. Every year I seem to go through the same ol' song and dance, adding a new jean here or there, never fully satisfied with jean, but needing another pair to see me through fall, winter and spring. The quest has become all the more important as a stay at home mom ... and do you know why? Because "the jean" is the NUMBER ONE staple of our wardrobe, is it not? I live in jeans day in and day out. They are my preferred pant, even when going out with Matt. I love them and yet they don't love me ... they gap in the waist, or fit the waist but are a second skin on my hiney, or fit all over, but are low enough to leave me with no secrets or maybe fit all of these problems but aren't long enough ... the list goes on and on.
In the last three months I've tried so many jeans its not funny and today I finally bought a pair and while I hate to say this is *the* pair, it's the closest I've come ... so I feel it my duty to share this great knowledge with you. Today I caved, I finally went to GAP. I suspected all along that I would find a pair of jeans there, but I also know the price they carry and was sure this financially savvy mama could find a pair of equal fit for much less. Sadly, not so ...
I settled on two styles that I really liked, the long & lean jean and the essential jean. Knowing I couldn't afford both, I opted for the one that met all my requirements for daily living and the ones I thought would get the most use ... the essential jean.

I'm pretty sure it should be named the "still stylin' but not wanting to show my hiney to the world mommy jean." But that is a little wordy, and essential sounds nicer. Go to the site, take a peek at them, read the description and then if you're like me, in need of some good daily living jeans, go try them on ... tell me what you think ... but don't blame me if you have $60 less in the bank account!
Oh ... a little p.s., GAP jeans tend to be a size smaller than you normally wear, which never hurts the female psyche, does it?
Happy Saturday!

I definitely like your name for the jeans better. As a reward, I may have to go in there and check out the jeans after I get rid of the post baby junk...next year! :)
I'm glad you found some good jeans!
I don't suppose they have 'wanting to look good while not trying to look like your daughter Grandma jean' - not that you would be looking for that style! Glad your quest is over - really if you factor in your time spent on searching for the more 'economical' jean, $60 for the 'perfect' fit isn't that bad! Happy getting a free hour to do what you want with day!
I'm really loving the jean names...maybe you two need to open a jean store with realistic names for each pair. Can I have the "large hips, small waist please fit both" pair? Or the "reinforced in the knee because I sit cross legged on the floor all day long" pair?
