Woke up to Ethan telling me it was snowing ;). Here is the view from the kitchen window. It was short lived, but still a wonderful treat this morning.
Finally, pictures of the felt garland ... there is only 6' of it ... not 18' like some over achievers ;). I did love this project, totally easy, relaxing and inexpensive. Less than $2 for 6' of garland ... whoo-hooo. Please share yours if you get inspired to create some ... the color choices are endless!
And the painting project(s). Well, last weekend Matt made my mantle for me ... when we were building the house, we opted to leave that finish carpentry to Matt since we knew he was fully capable and his labor is cheap! And he may not be as fast as the professionals, but is just as good once it's done. So, that needed painted before it could be hung. I opted to stick with the trim color. Then I thought that it would probably be easier to paint the wall behind the fireplace now, before the mantel goes on, rather than later. So again, I stuck with a "safe" color and went two shades darker than our walls, Olive Oil. I love it!! So all this got me excited and wanting to do A LOT of different things with the living room, but due to a very teeny tiny budget, I opted for only a few of those things right now. Here's a couple of sneak peeks, I should be able to show you completed pictures sometime next week! How about so more happy news ... since yesterday's post was such a downer ;). I was surprised and thrilled to see that I had won a contest at Mosh Posh. All I had to do was post layouts that used their monthly kit. Not hard for me as that is all I seem to use. I didn't even know I had won until I read the newsletter yesterday! I will get the December kit for free. And then if that wasn't great enough, I also won a little blog contest over at Sara Winnick's blog. I just love her style and layouts ... so whatever she sends me will be wonderful I am sure. Oh and how did I win, you ask? I gave her advice, that she is going to follow, on how to cook a turkey ... HAHAHAHAHAHA ... yep, it's true and I've never cooked a turkey. But I sure know how to tell you to or where to learn to ;). Looking forward to some fun mail love to arrive!
And I'll leave you with this sweet treat ... go on, have yourself a slice and slather it with some Brummel & Brown. I can't wait to have a thick slice tomorrow straight from the fridge, Mmmmm. The recipe is from Bethany courtesy of Cooking Light. As soon as she sends the recipe, I will share. It made 5 mini-loaves in my Pampered Chef mini loaf pan. Love the smell in the air right now.Happy Tuesday!

The bird looks even better than I imagined! Can't wait to see the mantle up and decorated. And your bread looks pretty darn good, I just age a piece myself :)
I like your garland! It looks like candy. :)
I can't wait to see the mantle up and everything finished. It looks good.
I made pumpkin muffins and bread the other day too. It's from the recipe you gave me last year. I tweaked it a bit this time & it turned out really good! Maybe I should go have some for breakfast...
How did bedtime go?
Sure glad Tuesday was better than Monday. Poor Ethan, POOR MOM... That's just one of the reasons why there is 10 years between you and Summer! Being a parent IS hard - and being a Mom is harder still ... but oh so rewarding. I was just thinking this morning that if there was ever a rift between me and my girls I think it would break my heart. I may not see you or talk to you as often as I like - but as long as I know all is well between us I am good. I give thanks every day - and especially this time of year.
