Yep, I've got the felt fever ... I think because it is so inexpensive to craft with and you can do so many fun things with it. After I finished my felt garland, I decided to tackle my next project, an advent calendar. It is so hard for Ethan to understand the concept of time, one day, one week, etc. so I knew we needed something he could use to visually count down the days til' Christmas. Well my first felt idea started to feel like too much work and way more complex than I wanted it to be. My second idea, well I love it ... now I just need to blanket stitch another 23 days worth of "things" and we'll be there ... before Saturday hopefully ;).
Here's a sneak peek:
And with that I think I'll work on these as much as I can today and tonight. In fact I think I need to grab some more embroidery thread, these are taking more than I planned for ... which brings me to my next thought ...Why do craft stores have to be a horrible experience? Am I the only one that dreads going to them? I love what they carry and "need" to get stuff from them frequently, but I'm telling you, 9 out of 1o times I'd rather poke myself in the eye with a pipe cleaner than go into those places ... and this time of year it's super magnified. Wish me luck!
Happy Thursday!

Super-cute! I can't wait to see the finished product.
I never have too bad of a time at Craft Warehouse, but I think I've never checked out in less than 20 minutes at Michael's. The worst part is that they're all so terribly crowded, which is always extra fun with a grabby toddler!
I am a fellow felt lover and I am LOVIN' this advent calander! I can't wait to see it all. I have been hunting for an idea for one and may just have to steal yours
:0)...it is looking SO cute!
So cute...can't wait to see your other shapes & the finished product.
I'm not a felt lover, but I've got to say your things are very cute...maybe you should come over in Dec. & show me how to do it...
Great idea, can't wait to see it finished!
I went with the old stand by advent calendar...hopefully we keep it to only one piece of candy a day. ;o)
I just went to Michaels yesterday with 2 little girls and actually had a great experience. The staff was very helpful and I left with everything I went in to buy...but I will say I spent $88! I hope to have some to return, I over bought incase I needed it.
So cute and a great idea to have a reusable advent calendar! Don't think I have time to get on board so we'll just buy a couple for the boys but I'll have to get on board and make one for next year. The boys don't need all that chocolate anyway.
Yes! I agree w/ craft stores being hard to shop in. They need bigger aisles and more staff!

That is so cute! I can't wait to see it all done. We have a really nice advent calendar/tree thing that Mike's grandma gave us a couple years ago or else I may be tempted to make one. But not until next year of course. :)
I totally agree with you about the craft store. I love going by myself when I can wander the aisles but that rarely happens. I actually went with all 4 kids the other day and it wasn't too bad. But not anything I want to repeat anytime soon either.
i love the advent calendar and ethan's anticipation over the 'suprise project', he is becoming such a little person! just wanted to let you know and everyone who reads your blog that the Stockdale family's episode of Extreme Home Makeover airs this Sunday (Dec. 2nd) on ABC, I'm pretty sure it's from 7-8pm, also they're doing a preview from 5-6 pm covering background info. and then a following special from 10-11pm taking you inside the home! Just thought I would let you guys know since I know you all felt so passionately about this family! Love you, have a great weekend!
