The makings of ...

a perfect holiday weekend.

This long weekend was just about perfect ... full of rest and relaxation. For the first time in many years I didn't do "Black Friday." I was missing my shopping buddy and needing to exercise financial self-control, so I opted to sleep in ;). I did make a quick trip to Target and grabbed a few movies (yea for Annie & Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) and t-shirts at good prices, but that was all the shopping I did!

Starbucks, waffles, Christmas decorations, Christmas tree set-up and decorating, lots of knitting, "surprise" night taking Ethan, taking him to the Old Spaghetti Factory (he loves sitting in the trolley) and then to the tree lighting ceremony downtown.

Saturday Matt let me sleep in until 9AM!! Then more waffles ... yes, more waffles. We bought a new waffle maker (our joint Christmas gift) and are loving it and the waffles. Then Matt & I had an afternoon date and went to see "Dan in Real Life" and grab a bite to eat. The movie was SO good. Now, I know I'm about the worst critic for movies, but it was really, really good. Funny and so heartwarming ... I laughed and cried. And Matt even agreed for "that kind of movie" it was pretty good ;). I don't know if I've mentioned it, but I LOVE going to the movies for the whole experience ... it's just fun to me. I even love the previews, yes all 30 minutes of them, LOL. Usually there is one maybe two that peek my interest, but this time, three that I really want to see ...

Vantage Point
Juno
The Bucket List

Then I did a little creating last night and finished two cards for the "52 Scrap-Up Challenge" ... I was two weeks behind. I'll share tomorrow when I have better lighting for pictures.

And today, well it was filled with church, naps, grocery shopping and this yummy and easy dinner:

Tomato Tortellini Soup

2 14oz cans reduced sodium chicken or vegetable broth
1 9oz pkg refrigerated tortellini
4 oz cream cheese spread with chive and onion
1 10 3/4 - 11oz can condensed tomato or tomato bisque soup
Snipped fresh chives (optional)

In saucepan bring broth to boiling. Add tortellini; reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered for 5 minutes. In a bowl whisk 1/3 c of the hot broth into the cream cheese until smooth. Return all to saucepan along with tomato soup. Heat through. Sprinkle with chives before serving.
Makes 4 servings.

I think that is a pretty good summary of the weekend ... tomorrow I plan to share lots of pictures ... Christmas decorations, cards, sweaters and more ...

But I couldn't leave you with ZERO pictures, so here is one I thought might make you smile ...
Oh and speaking of Mr. Charming above ... remember the bedtime saga? Well since that awful night we've had NO problem. And that makes it so worth the hard work ;).

Happy Sunday ... One month until Christmas, let the countdown begin!!
