A lovely little weekend of celebration ...

Well, the weekend didn't work out quite the way I had planned in my head ... Matt ended up working both Friday night and Saturday night until midnight-ish. Which made for a tired me, since I can't seem to go to sleep until he gets home.

Saturday I was up early and out the door with Ethan to pick up my mom and sister and then meet up with more family and friends at Race for the Cure. This is my fourth year (and Ethan's too) walking for the cure and it is really so very special to be surrounded by people walking in celebration of someone (many of them in celebration of their own fight); in honor of someone or just as a woman (or man) wanting to find a cure to the horrible disease, breast cancer.

(Summer (my sister); Renee (my mom); Me & Ethan; Jessica; Julie; Kelly; Bethany; Baby Claire)

My mom thinks that this is a great way for her to celebrate Mother's Day with her girls ... so after walking we went out to lunch because you can't really celebrate without food ... can you?!?

Sunday, my boys celebrated me, giving me a funny card and a coupon for a "day off" ... as in a full day to myself with no Ethan ... this is huge ... I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Ethan with all that I am, he is after all the reason I'm a mother, but he also at a very exhausting age that doesn't allow for much "free" time for me at home. So I had told Matt that a day at home without Ethan would be bliss ... I can scrapbook, read, nap, watch a movie totally uninterrupted, eat what I want without having to share, run out the door and go to a store and just browse. I know you understand ... and I know it's a totally self-serving request and I'm okay with that ;).

After church, we had a deliciously un-healthy lunch from Jack in the Box ... something I rarely let myself indulge in ... with a big fat coke! Yum!! Too bad I fell asleep for 2.5 hours and woke up to a watered down, no more ice coke :(. But that nap was wonderful and worth the wasted coke. We had ribs for dinner and then went out for milkshakes ... a very nice day.

Happy Monday!

Saturday was fun! I'm looking forward to doing it next year and being the one pushing the stroller!
Sounds like you had a perfect Mother's Day! And I think you should indulge again this week and replace the big fat Coke! Maybe Sunday night...:)
