Hello 2010!

I love how you mark a fresh start, a year full of potential, twelve months of possibility.

Now having already said I'm not a fan of 'resolutions' ... I do love to make a list of goals.

How did I do with my '9 for '09'? Well I'd say I'd give myself a 45%. Not so hot, that is why several are showing up AGAIN.

Here goes for 2010:

  1. Send Birthday cards and Thank-You notes. I am TERRIBLE at this. I am hoping this is the year! My goal is to mark the 25th of the month as "CARD DAY" and get all the next months (or two) cards made and addressed and waiting in the calendar. I also want to take the time to write thank you cards myself as well as establish this habit with Ethan. (This correlates to #7 on last year's list)
  2. Keep up on my accounting for Knitty Bitties. Again, I'm really paying for this procrastination right now. I think that the 5th of every month will be bookkeeping day for the previous month. If I'm doing really good, I might schedule a 20-30min. mini-bookkeeping session for every Friday. (Part of #4 on last year's list)
  3. Finish 3 Quilts - 2 are already in progress, one for me and one for Ethan. I'd like to make one for Matt too.
  4. Run a 10K race ... run all of it without walking.
  5. Learn to crochet. (#3 last year)
  6. Scrapbook more ... this has really fallen by the wayside and I'd like to make it a priority again.
  7. Save more. This is always a goal, but Matt told me his resolution (he goes big or goes home!) and I need to be very conscious of my spending choices to help his resolution happen.
  8. Stop and play more. Ethan has 7 short months before he heads off to school 'full time' and I find myself with a lot of 'me' time. I want to make sure I'm using the hours he's home and awake to the fullest.
  9. Be online less. This was oh so clear to me in the last few weeks that I really limited my online time. The world will survive without a blog post from, I will survive not knowing if there are un-read e-mails, blog posts, etc. I am going to try to keep with the schedule I did while on my 'break from the Internet.'
  10. Take more everyday photos. (#1 last year)
I know most of these sound like selfish goals and maybe some of them are lacking in great substance, but they are things important to me and this is a list of my goals. I know the big stuff of life I need to do or be doing or do better and those things don't really change from year to year ... this is the little (and big) stuff that nags at me over with thoughts like, "I wish I was better at that, Oh I need to remember to do that, Why can't I be on top of things like that." You know those thoughts. I'm hoping to shut some of them up by doing something about them :).

Happy New Year to all of you! Make the most of it!!

Are you using Quickbooks? SimpleStart is only $99 and is very, very simple to use. If you're using Excel or anything else, I guarantee this will cut your bookkeeping time in half. It also makes filing your Schedule C painless in April.
