January Re-Cap

Clearly blogging was not top on the priority list this month ... sadly neither was pictures of anything aside from my sewing (which you can catch up on here).

Oh well, tomorrow is a new month.

To re-cap what we've been up to this month ...
  • Matt went to Seattle for a few days for work ... which means I stayed up way too late (uhm, maybe early is a better word, as in 2 & 3AM) and I ended up paying for it.

  • I hosted a 'bon voyage' dinner for my brother-in-law, Marshall, who shipped out on a 14 month deployment to the Middle East. We had an incredible dinner, but it was bittersweet. Please be praying for both Marshall and my sister, Summer. They are only 6 months into their new life together ... what a year this will be for them. You can read about her adventures on her new blog (on my side bar as soon as she sends me the link ... hint, hint :D).
  • The next day I woke up with an awful sore throat that landed me in bed for three days; I missed saying good-bye to Marshall at the airport; spent 2 weeks 'sleeping' in 1-2 hour blocks on either the couch or air mattress upstairs; missed 2 weeks of church and many other events. Matt took great care of me, brought me many a Starbucks and took care of Ethan a lot. Ethan was also so good for me while I was sick ... he let me sleep in every morning for an extra hour and would draw pictures to 'cheer me up' while he quietly watched cartoons.
  • We made homemade doughnuts. A trip to the restaurant supply store for a doughnut cutter proved to be the most expensive doughnuts ever ... $50 later (and way more than just a doughnut cutter) we had delicious sugared and frosted homemade doughnuts. Mmmm.

  • Ethan was awarded 'Virtue Student of the Month' at school. This month's virtue was compassion. Of all the virtues, I can't think of one that makes me more proud. He has always had a kind and tender heart and a love of people so I wasn't surprised, but I'm so happy that he's shining his light in a way that others notice.

(Thank you for the picture, Andrea!)

  • I helped host a baby shower for Bethany & "Sam I Am" ... such a blessing to have had Bethany in my life all these years (almost 25). This was a fun day celebrating her second miracle.

  • Tonight Matt made homemade calzones ... some of the cheese escaped the calzone and burned inside the oven, which caused the house to fill with some smoke. This is how Ethan enjoyed his dinner. I think the pen/pencil in the pocket (just like Grandpa T.) completes the look.Lots of life going on, mostly all good, thankful for all of it ... looking forward to a wonderful February.

And to help keep me blogging a bit more and because I think it will be way fun. I'm planning a craft a day up until Valentine's day. So I'll be back tomorrow with a link to our craft for February 1st!

Happy Day!

I also love the recap! Long over due (although as you will see when you check out my blog that my intentions haven't exactly come to fruition- oh well). Thanks again for hosting the dinner- so nice to not have to worry about where to have it! Have you gotten Just Dance yet? You should probably be practicing for a world class dance off to come soon- wink wink!
