I have so enjoyed reading Kelly's "Virtual Coffee Dates" ... which has led me back to the gal that started this idea. Which has led me to several other sweet bloggers.
But, really I love reading about the happenings of other mamas in my 'real' world since our times together seem to be few and far between these days.
So come on, join me for a plate of fresh baked cookies and a tall glass of iced tea.
I'll do the talking (what's new?) and you can do the listening ...
If you were really here sitting with me, I'd start by telling you what a wonderful week this has been. I know, we're only a little more than 2 days into it, but it has been lovely. And I know it has everything to do with being intentional. A lot of it stems from being intentional with my thoughts. And I've been 'learning' to be grateful as a result of the words in this book. I'd then tell you that I would love to have a book club just for this book. It's that good, it needs to be shared and talked about.
I'd also tell you how proud I was of Ethan and Matt last week at the Awana Grand Prix. They worked very hard on E's car and Matt made Ethan do as much of the work himself as he could. It paid off ... E had the fastest car of the night. He was so proud of his win and his 'gold' trophy. I think Matt was just as proud of winning ... you couldn't wipe the smiles off their faces.
I'd tell you that Ethan has his 'BIG' orthodontic appointment tomorrow and it makes me want to cry. So we're not going to talk any more about it, okay? Just be thinking of us tomorrow morning and praying for E tomorrow during school and the next few nights.
I'd tell you how eating in the school cafeteria almost caused me to loose my cookies and how I have to NOT think about that part of Ethan's day. Let's just say it's the likens of a cattle call with the little boy next to you pouring chocolate milk on his pizza and eating it all while the girl across from you turns her milk into a volcano and then juggles her pizza. A few more trips to the cafeteria and I'll be homeschooling ;).
But then I'd tell you how waking up to ice cream for breakfast is a pretty awesome start to the weekend. Thank you Aunt Julie for letting us know about "National Ice Cream for Breakfast Day." Also, as I edited this photo I cringed at that hair ... seriously, who cuts this kids hair? Don't worry, he got a fresh haircut later that day ... yikes!
And now, because I have to go to bed and get up early I'd tell you have got to go home. I mean come on already, you've been here all day. But let's talk more next week, because I have lots more to share and I think I like sharing cookies & iced tea with a friend better than boring ol' blogging ;).
Happy Wednesday!

What a fun way to read blogs, although now I feel like I need a treat.
Really, I've gotta get that book, Kelly said she was really enjoying it too.
Hope all goes well with E today, I'll be praying for him. I have an upcoming ortho appt too ... big changes for Amanda!
School ... that's a big topic, we could talk about that all day for sure.
Hope your Thursday is just as great as the start of your week was!
I think next Tuesday we should have a real coffee date. And we can talk about the book and being intentional and homeschooling. Yes, I want all my friends to homeschool too so I don't feel like such a weirdo next year!
Praying for you guys today!
I love all the updates! And I'll definitely be thinking about you guys on this new orthodontic adventure. I got braces really young (though not quite as young as our little friend) and it wasn't so bad. It made me super interesting to the other kids in my class, and I wasn't worried about how they looked (like I would have been later in life). Just keep the advil nearby for a day or two after each adjustment and you'll be fine! And, years later, he will thank you over and over for giving him a healthy smile!
I seriously laughed out loud at your description of the school lunch. Don't know that I could do it - you're the woman!
I added the book to my to-read list...thanks :)
Yucky orthodontics! They are no fun but it is pretty amazing when you see the end result. I hope all went well with his appointment and I will be praying his treatment goes by quick.
Great job Ethan on the grand prix car! I remember doing those as a kid. :)
