First Day of 1st Grade ...

Well, we survived day 1 of 1st grade.

The day started early (well, early for me) with homemade blueberry muffins, yogurt and juice. Next in our new morning routine? Packing a lunch. It's really no different than the lunches I have been fixing, it just has to be done every single morning :). Today included a love note and a few special sweet treats.

Mandatory 1st day of school picture taking. When I came outside I found E with his sunglasses on. :D

Showing off his new backpack ...

Before school started we met up with some of our bestest friends and they walked into school together.

Look how sweet these three are? E with his arm around Carson and then Carson and Graham holding hands. Gah! It's too much!

Me & E ... I put on a good front! Inside my stomach was in knots!

All lined up and heading into class ...

**eta - I suppose I should have mentioned E's feeling about today too, LOL. I was so focused on me because in my mind it was a given that he was ready, that he would do great and would come home wanting to go back. Sure enough, no hesitation this morning, no worries and happy as a clam when I picked him up. I am oh so thankful that he LOVES (and always has loved) school. We've never had a day of "I don't want to go" ... and while I'm sure that day will come, so far he thinks recess, snacks and friends are pretty great. **

After dropping E off, shedding a few tears and fighting the knot in my stomach, this mama decided to run her heart out so it wouldn't feel so sad.

That gave me just enough time to cool off, send a few e-mails and shower before I made myself a quick lunch to go. I had a hot date with Starbucks, my sister and a pedicure.

And that pretty well wrapped up my first day by myself.
Hmmmm ... not very productive was it?

No, but it was fun and I ended the 7 hour stretch with a smile on my face so that is good.

Tomorrow I have lots of sewing/business to keep me busy and the goal of making myself a schedule. I need structure or I may just find myself frittering away my time. The last thing I want is to pick up E from school with a mile long to-do list left. In fact, my primary goal is to have a to-do list centered around Ethan and our family of three once I pick him up from school.

I've got to make the most of the hours I do get him home!

Happy Wednesday!

I've been thinking about you all day! I'm so thankful you guys were there to meet us this morning! It's so fun that the boys get to go to school together! How did he like it?

I like your idea of having a to-do list centered around the family in the afternoon/evening time!

See you tomorrow!

I am glad to hear that the day went "well". Did Ethan enjoy his first day? It is so important that he loves school, helps make it a little easier on his mama. :)

Glad to hear his first day went well (for both of you)! I love his backpack. I am thinking it was smart to pay the extra money for a real good one. It's frustrating when backpacks and lunch bags only last one year (or in the case of the lunch bags, 1/2 a year).

Holy cow! First day already? E looks so cute and happy. And you did good, Mom. Your brave face is very convincing, and I'm proud of you.
