Have you had your "I love you" today?
I don't know how common this is ... but in our house, we like to say I love you a lot. Not to be over the top, or showy or for any reason other than to genuinely let the other person know that we love them. When it pops in my head, I try to say it.
I don't know when this started for me, but I know that with my mom, sister and I almost always say, "love you" before we end our conversations. I remember my mom telling me about one of her co-workers, that sat at the desk behind her, asking, "do you have to say that every time you talk to each other?" As if it was a bad thing ...
Since Ethan was little I would tell him I loved him. And when he said, "Me wuv you too" well my heart swelled in a whole new way. Now as we go about our day and I say, "Love you" or "Ethan, I love you" ... I almost always get either, "I love you and like you too" or "I love you, I need a kiss and hug."
Even yesterday, as we cleaned out the garage and Ethan "worked" on the patio, I popped my head around, said I love you to which he replied the same and then we had to have a hug and kiss, right there in the middle of our work, covered in dirt.
There is just nothing like an I love you to make things right in my little world. I hope you've gotten your I love you today too!
Happy Thursday!

Those are words you hear around our home a lot too! I don't think you can hear it enough! Carson has started saying it all on his own and it almost makes me cry when he says "Mommy me lubs you." Oh so sweet!
I have had my 'I love you' today - several times! And...today is my parents 32nd wedding anniversary! How appropriate for you to discuss love today! :)
Love you!!
Never get tired of hearing it or saying it. But I have missed my I love you's from and to you this week. I will try to catch you at home this morning. I am more sporadic at checking your blog and e-mail, as I can't do that any more at work - new sheriff in town... Glad you have been having a good week. And another great picture! I LOVE YOU!
What a great post! "I love you" is heard countless times around our house too. I make sure it is the first thing the kids hear from me in the morning and the last thing they hear at night. I also used to have co-workers who would comment on the fact that Jeff and I always say "I love you" to close out a phone conversation. I don't think you can hear those words too many times in a day!
Well, I don't "hear" it from Claire yet, but yesterday I was telling her how much I loved her and she gave me a kiss (her version, which is touching forheads). That was enough for me!
We're all about the I love you's in my family too!
Shawn's love you's are usually pretty unique...last night I heard this little song "oh, chicken (his newest name for me) sweet chicken, I love you...."
We're an I love you family too. And do you want to know something that happened to me one time?? We were in Home Depot... and I was just strolling the cart and Ella was sitting in the kid part. i was looking at light bulbs and when I got close enough to the cart again, she said out loud "I love you mommy" and squeezed me. Now this other (and older) mom was close enough to see and hear and do you know what she said?? Well, you might think she said "awwwww" or "how precious"... or "what a sweetie"... but NO!! She said with a laugh "yeah! THAT won't last long, she'll be a teenager before you know it!". What a SNOOT!! I'll never forget that. I though, she must be a really sad mom. :o(
We always say I love you too! I think it's great. Hawkin was 2 before he would say it back but when he did it was more precious and meaningful than I can express. Now Soren says it in the cutest way... I luboo! He also says truck in a not so cute way.
Well I love hearing how you are doing, glad you're enjoying summer.
