What a whirlwind weekend we had. About a month ago we decided to get Ethan some big boy bedding to keep him properly tucked in and warm at night. I found an adorable set at Target with a "Planes, Trains & Automobiles" theme, which went perfect with some pictures my SIL gave me recently. Well, it showed up last week and I got a wild hair to paint and surprise him with a whole big boy room. We even "upgraded" him to the bigger of our two extra bedrooms. So, that started Friday night and we surprised him yesterday morning ... of course catching his initial shock was difficult, but I think the picture of him smiling in his bed sums it up. I still need to touch up the stripes and hang stuff on the wall, but we both love the new room!!
Sunday night I started work on the firetruck cake, baking and chilling the cakes for decorating. Monday we went on a surprise trip to get balloons for the party (Ethan still didn't know we were celebrating that night) and I started in on the cake about 11AM. Well two sheet cakes and four batches of buttercream frosting later, we had a cake and it even looked like a firetruck. The problem with doing these kinds of things is you learn so much the first time, you just know you could be better the second time ... however, the smell of cake and frosting is still making my stomach turn, so no more cake for awhile! Here's the invite we sent out to family ... it was a very fun evening filled with yummy eats, lots of laughter and one very, very, very happy little boy ... which made all of it worth it. Thanks to our wonderful family for helping us celebrate ... Ethan doesn't know how lucky he is to have you all so close by!

Ethan could not get enough of the "blowers" ... in fact it's a good thing there was no other kids to share them with as he went through all eight in less than two hours ... who knew ... I would have bought more ;).
I'll hold off on the sappy and save it for a scrapbook page ...
Happy Birthday to the littlest love of my life!!
and Happy Tuesday to all of you!
and Happy Tuesday to all of you!
