... of summer.
Tomorrow officially starts my favorite time of year ... pretty much from now until just after the new year, I'm a happy girl ... happy with the cooler weather, the warm clothes, the baking and cozy feel of home.
So tomorrow might be the official start, but I'll tell you I think it started a few days earlier ... like Friday night/Saturday morning. Following a very HOT day on Friday (we're talking 90's) a storm rolled in causing all sorts of thunder, lightening and RAIN ... lots and lots of RAIN. Normally after almost 2 months of no rain, I'd be happy ... again, happy with the cooler weather, warm clothes, staying cozy INSIDE and baking something delicious. Instead I was out in the weather ... getting DRENCHED as I shivered and shook for 45 minutes before starting my second 5K race. The race itself wasn't too bad. I didn't beat last year's time, but considering the elements I was braving and my strained muscles, I was happy to run the entire race and finish under a minute from last year.
If you're bored and want to take a peek ... click here and look for me at about the 2:00 minute mark on the video. I'm in purple with a black running skirt on ... uhm yes, a skirt in the pouring rain. Don't even get me started on how crazy this was. My sister ran along side me which made it even more fun and although she had to take one quick walk to catch her breath, she finished just a minute and a half after me. Yea for us!! And yea for my SIL, Julie and her friend Sherri who also braved the weather and did the competitive walk wave.
After a long hot shower, warm clothes and a nap under the down comforter, I felt like I might live :). Now to keep up the running through these cooler months so that next year I can beat my time and maybe try a 10K race. We'll see ... don't hold me to it because if next year is anything like this year, I'll be at home snuggled in bed under my comforter!

Way to go! You know I would have chickend out. ;o)
The fact that you even went with the weather being so nasty is great but that you ran the whole way in the nasty weather is very impressive!

Yay for us, what a day!!! It took a long bath and some serious time cozying up on the couch before I felt like I could do anything :) And you'll be happy to know all the way in Lewiston my legs are still sore. Love you!
