I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart. Where? Down in my heart.
Down in my heart to stay.
We're starting a sermon series on the book of Philippians at church. The general theme of the book? Joy.
I thank God that after walking through the trials and tribulations of the past 6 years that I can say I KNOW the difference between being happy and having joy. And because of that, I can also thank God for allowing me to walk those trials and tribulations to learn what it means to experience real joy.
It's kind of become my 'mantra' if you will and my sweet niece had gave a me a necklace to remind me (and share with others) of this ...

This excerpt from a quote by John MacArthur sums up true (spiritual) joy...
"... deep abiding confidence that regardless of circumstances in life, all is well between the believer and the Lord ..."
And because life is not always happy, I do my best to soak up the moments of happiness. Like a weekend together with family and treats like s'mores ...

Happy Sunday!

I LOVE this post! I also felt this deep conviction and reminder of joy vs. happiness yesterday. I loved the entire quote but also noted out that specific line. Thank you for this post and the cute pics. Makes me want a s'more!
I was singing the same song during the sermon yesterday!
Love you!!
It's a hard lesson to learn and I'm sorry you had to learn such a hard lesson in such a hard way. But I'm glad you've let us share this journey with you.
Very well written..love to hear of your growth during this "journey". Thanks for sharing
We love that song at our house, the girls sing it all the time!
Isn't it great to know that because he cares so much for us and loves us so much he gave us joy.
