I *heart* 4th of July ...

I'm not sure why, but I really love it. Maybe because it's the biggest holiday of the summer. It brings people together on a warm day and lingers into the night. It's filled with lots of great food and the fun and excitement of fireworks ...

But mostly it's remembering just how much we have to be thankful for living in the United States of America.

We started celebrating Saturday, joining Uncle Mike & Aunt Julie at the 'We the People' parade. It's a grass roots, eclectic, low budget parade ... but it's still a parade. And when you're 6 a parade = a super fun morning!

Sunday was spent at church, getting ready for our party guests and celebrating a 4th of July boy, Garrett. E and I left Garrett's party early to make it back to greet guests at our house.

We had a great time with Matt's family and several of our close friends. We ate delicious food ... the main dish was pulled pork, smoked by Matt for 16+ hours. Mmmm. Followed by a dessert bar with flag cake, peanut butter cookie sandwiches, cheesecake, coconut cake, homemade strawberry ice cream and root beer floats with homemade vanilla ice cream. Seriously? What were we thinking? One dessert per person ?!? ;).

We enjoyed our nice new patio, great conversation and good ol' fireworks in the street.

Gathering on the front porch ... hello, patriotic porch!

Gathering in the driveway ... I need a bigger porch!

Two of my favorite gals ... my MIL and SIL.

Claire & Ethan ... they love each other like brother and sister :).

Ethan 'dancing' with the firework. Check out that face! I wish you could see the moves that went along with it!

Favorite saying of the night goes to Claire ... "Look, Lego Fireworks!"
(Did you see any lego fireworks?)

Happy Birthday America ... we sure have fun celebrating you!

Who is standing next to Sandy in the driveway with a brown shirt on? Hard to tell in the small pic.

Looks like you guys had a blast! Wish I could have been there too!! Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks!!!

That's Bethany standing next to Sandy. If you don't remember what she looks like after being friends for well over TWENTY YEARS, well I think it's time for you to get back over here & see us. :)

Looks like a fun 4th! Thanks for making time for G's party in all that! :) Your porch looks great! I'm still on the lookout for enamelware for you (and me)

Okay...I thought it was Bethany - but it looks like she's scowling & Bethany doesn't usually do that - so I wasn't sure. Crimany. I do need to get back over there...

:D

Seriously?!?!
Poor Bethany ... lucky for you she doesn't check this too often, so it'll be a few days before her feelings are crushed :).

(And just a note ... you can click on the picture for a better look ... are you wearing your glasses old lady?!?)

Seriously I love your porch, I gotta stop seeing it or else Jason will have to pay for a porch overhaul.
Looks like a great day of celebrating!
I love C's comment, that's too funny.

disappointed that you couldn't get Lincoln-sons name right, but I guess I'll let it slide since your house was so cute! kind of feeling bummed I couldn't make it, but I would have missed out on my neighbors taking pity on me and feeding me elk steak and potatoes?!
